The Role

The Workday Finance Consultant plays a key role in the implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Workday Financial Management within a complex government shared-services environment.
\n
Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, you will provide subject-matter expertise across Workday Financials, supporting business change, process improvement, and system configuration. You will act as a trusted adviser to stakeholders, ensuring solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned to client and government standards.
\n
Key Responsibilities
\n
\n - Act as a Workday Financials subject matter expert, providing functional and process expertise across areas such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expenses, Assets, Projects, and Reporting.
\n - Resolve Workday incidents and service requests across Finance and Procurement modules, ensuring timely and accurate issue resolution in line with SLAs.
\n - Triage and prioritize incidents (P1P4), applying structured investigation techniques to diagnose root causes and implement effective fixes.
\n - Manage assigned tickets through to closure, maintaining clear, auditable updates and ensuring a high-quality user experience.
\n - Collaborate with functional and technical teams to resolve complex issues, escalating where necessary with sufficient detail and impact assessment.
\n - Adhere to defined SLA/KPI targets, ensuring response and resolution times are consistently achieved or exceeded.
\n - Perform root cause analysis on recurring incidents, contributing to problem management and continuous service improvement initiatives.
\n - Maintain accurate documentation, including knowledge articles, known error records, and troubleshooting guides, to support faster resolution and team capability.
\n - Work closely with program teams, business stakeholders, and system integrator partners to design, configure, and deliver Workday Financials solutions.
\n - Lead and contribute to workshops, capturing business requirements, documenting outputs, and translating them into clear functional designs and system specifications.
\n - Support business process re-engineering and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and government shared services standards.
\n - Document change requests, enhancements, and BAU support requirements with a high degree of accuracy.
\n - Support and, where appropriate, lead testing activities, including system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing; ensure defects and issues are logged, tracked, and resolved.
\n - Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, clients, and third-party suppliers.
\n - Provide clear and timely communication, presenting information at the appropriate level to support decision-making.
\n - Support transition to service and ongoing operational support, including knowledge transfer and documentation.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
\n
\n - Demonstrable experience working with Workday Financial Management in a configuration, implementation, or support role.
\n - Strong understanding of end-to-end finance processes within a complex organization.
\n - Ability to gather, analyze, and document business requirements and produce high-quality functional specifications.
\n - Experience working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and with senior stakeholders.
\n - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n - Experience supporting or delivering testing activities within an ERP or SaaS environment.
\n - Experience of working within a structured delivery environment, such as Agile or hybrid methodologies, using issue-tracking and ITSM tools.

Desirable Skills and Experience
\n
\n - Experience of working within a government or shared services environment.
\n - Previous experience with other ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle e-Business Suite or Fusion) to support transformation, data migration, or operating model design.
\n - Experience supporting integrations, reporting, and analytics within Workday.
\n - Understanding of project and delivery methodologies such as Agile or SAFe.
\n - Experience acting as a workstream lead or leading small projects or releases.
